01
Define the event and the technical question
Trajectory, possible speed, technical collision avoidance and damage origin depend on specific starting conditions. Missing information should not be replaced by convenient assumptions. Describe the date, vehicles, location and dispute, with available diagrams and records. Identify competing versions of the circumstances separately. This links calculations to stated conditions rather than presenting a result as a universal answer for every possible interpretation of the road event and the participants’ different accounts.
02
Preserve and document the vehicle’s condition
The examination may need vehicle inspection, photographs, recordings, repair records and incident material. If repairs are complete, explain when and what changed, retaining available documentation. Do not dismantle a disputed component or discard removed parts to prepare an enquiry. The examiner determines inspection arrangements and specialist work. An unsafe vehicle should not be used for personal experiments: address safety first, then organise the examination through the agreed and appropriate process.
03
Technical analysis is not a finding of fault
A finding about technical possibility or damage does not decide the parties’ legal fault. Results should show source data, methods and the effects of uncertainty. Repair-cost questions may require a separate scope and approach. Initial discussion separates the tasks and assesses material availability. Fees and timing depend on vehicles, inspection and calculations; a promise of an exact answer from one photograph without reviewing the circumstances does not reflect the specialist work required.

Can a repaired vehicle still be examined?
Sometimes, but changes affect what can be established. Repair history and preserved material are needed, with limitations assessed before the scope is agreed.
Will the expert identify who is legally at fault?
Automotive examination addresses specialist technical questions. Legal fault and responsibility are determined by the competent authority.
