Identify the feature that needs checking
Speech content, editing traces, image characteristics and object comparisons involve different questions. Speaker identification, where feasible, needs appropriate specialist methods and comparison material. Avoid an undefined promise to verify a recording’s authenticity in every respect. Explain the disputed feature and relevant passage. Preliminary assessment identifies answerable questions, possible additional specialties and limits caused by recording quality or the way the material was acquired, copied or made available for the examination.

A source file is more useful than an edited copy
Forwarding, cropping, audio enhancement or re-saving can change file characteristics. Preserve the source version where available and disclose transformations already made. Do not remove noise or sharpen the only copy before transfer. An initial description can cover recording length and source. Secure transfer of large files and original media is arranged after scoping, taking account of confidentiality, preservation and the particular circumstances of the case rather than convenience alone.

Quality limits how definite the answer can be
Heavy compression, missing segments or poor intelligibility may prevent the required finding. Improving presentation does not recreate information absent from the source. Results should identify examined material, established features and limits. No provider should promise flawless identification of every person or edit. Fees depend on duration, items, questions and methods. Assessing material suitability comes before final scope so the client understands what the work can and cannot reasonably establish.
